What is hypnosis and how can it help me?

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention where you are awake, alert, and in control. We all experience a natural and light state of hypnosis just before we drift into sleep, while meditating, reading an interesting book, or watching a captivating movie.  


In the relaxed state of hypnosis, you can connect with the subconscious part of your mind. This is the part that is responsible for all your life-supporting body systems that run automatically without any conscious effort or awareness.


  • Some examples are:

  • Breathing

  • Digesting

  • Blinking

  • Sweating

  • Heart pumping blood

  • Baby developing in mother’s womb


The subconscious mind also stores all the memories and events. It is like your hard drive!  Its most important job is to keep you safe and alive!


So, whenever the subconscious mind perceives something as dangerous for you, it will do anything to protect you from it. How amazing is that!


How does the mind know what is safe for you and what is harmful?

The mind uses past experiences, most of them from before you were 8 years old, as a reference point. Through your past experiences and lessons, the mind creates belief systems. Isn’t that great? So, at an early age, you, like any other child, learn what is good and safe for you and what is not. Your parents, care providers, and life experiences helped you learn what is dangerous, what is acceptable, and what is safe and good for you. Here are a few examples we comely learn at an early age:


  • Fire can be dangerous

  • You can fall from heights

  • You can drown in water

  • Don’t talk to a stranger

  • Rich people are not good

  • You are fat, thin, slow, smart…


You may have had some unpleasant or scary experience where you felt:


  • Fearful or anxious

  • Stuck

  • Silly

  • Not good enough

  • Lost

  • Abandoned

  • Unloved

  • Unsafe

  • Not in control…


For known or unknown reasons, you may find you get anxious around heights, and/or closed spaces; feel like you will be abandoned; unloved; or you keep attracting unhealthy relationships. These are just a few examples of the subconscious mind perceiving what you desire as harmful to you, and creates blocks, fears, anxiety, or other ways to keep you ‘safe’. I believe and know from experience that almost every dis-ease, dis-harmony, or limitation has a subconscious belief, memory, or trauma at the source.


In a relaxed state of hypnosis where you are guided by a qualified and experienced hypnotist, you can find out what is coming in the way of your health, wellness, personal, career, or financial goals, dreams, or desires. Next, we can replace the limiting belief or memory with a new healthier one that will support you and work with you instead of against you.


What I love about hypnosis is that it almost always clears up the patterns at the source for a lasting, even permanent positive change. I also love that we can do a lot of the work without you having to share the details with me. In just a few sessions you can begin to see positive changes and feel happier, healthier, and more confident. In other words, you begin to get back on track.
